After winning a gruelling horse race in Saudi Arabia last week, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed opted to rest and watch the 21st President of UAE Endurance Cup from the sidelines on Saturday.
More than 300 riders took part in the 160km endurance race, which was won by Laila Abdul Aziz, riding Malimbo from the Wathba 1 Stables of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The Crown Prince of Dubai was joined by Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council at the Emirates Endurance Village in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi.
The event was also attended by American actor Steven Seagal, who was pictured laughing and chatting with Sheikh Hazza.
Sheikh Hamdan is himself a keen horse rider, winning the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Endurance Cup 2020 120km endurance race last weekend in Saudi Arabia.
He galloped to victory in just over four hours and 35 minutes, watched on by his father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.
The thrill-seeking Crown Prince is famous for his love of adrenaline sports, and regularly posts videos on social media of himself skydiving, jet-skiing, climbing, diving and wing-walking.
He is also known to be an animal lover, and even went out with a group of UAE conservationists to help trim a giraffe’s hooves.
But it appears he has a particular affinity with horses, having been a keen rider since childhood. He owns a number of horses and has won a string of international and regional endurance riding medals.
