ABU DHABI // A man from Europe will be deported after being found guilty of counterfeiting Mawaqif parking tickets.
Abu Dhabi Criminal Court sentenced the man to three months in prison, suspended, and ordered his deportation.
The fraud was discovered after a Mawaqif inspector reported seeing a suspicious ticket inside his car. Police were called in to inspect the ticket and found 14 tickets, of which 12 were forged.
The suspect denied knowing the tickets were fake, saying he bought them from an Asian person he did not know.
