Couple jailed for sex out of wedlock

Man was found half-naked under maid¿s bed.

DUBAI // A couple have been sentenced to two months in prison for having sex outside of marriage.

The Egyptian AA, 30, and the Indonesian maid HB, 36, were caught in the maid's room outside her sponsor's villa in Al Mazhar 1 area on April 5 by a member of the sponsor's family who went to investigate after hearing noises.

AA had travelled from Al Ain and entered the property of MA, the sponsor, at about 10pm after HB opened the gate for him. Police arrested the pair at the villa.

AA was found half-naked under the maid's bed.

He told the officers he was in love with the maid and they planned to get married.

Police also discovered AA had been living in the country illegally since 2010 after his visa expired.

He told prosecutors he was guilty on charges of consensual sex, trespassing and overstaying his visa. He was sentenced to a further month in jail for the visa offence.

HB told prosecutors she had been in love with AA for almost a month before they were caught.

He spoke to her over the phone and she gave him directions to her room. "I had sex with him because I love him," she told prosecutors.

She added that AA also came to her room a month before they were caught and had sex with her.

Both will be deported after they complete their jail terms.
