Set to face Dubai Hawks in the quarter-finals of the Sharjah Ramadan Cup on Thursday night, Allmed warmed up for the last-eight clash with a comfortable six-wicket win over Bukhatir XI at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday night.
Allmed, who had trounced Ramada Ajman by eight wickets a night earlier to confirm their place in the knockout stages of the tournament, turned in another good show with the ball to restrict Bukhatir XI to 102 for nine, with Inayat Ayoub (3 for 14) and Daniyal Shakeel (2 for 13) being the leading performers.
Allmed then cruised to victory in 16.4 overs, with Rohit Singh scoring an unbeaten 29 and Saif Januja hitting a 24-ball 35.
In the other match of the night, UBL, who meet NMC in the quarter-finals, also a had a good tune-up for their clash with a 29-run win over NTDE, who are also through to the last eight and meet Red Flower Tourism.
Mohammed Naveed was the star performer for UBL on the night, first with the bat before coming back to take two wickets for 10 in a miserly spell.
UBL were in a difficult spot when Naveed walked in to bat, having lost half the side with not enough on the board, but he turned the innings around with a blazing, unbeaten 39, that came off only 19 balls and was studded with three sixes and two fours.
He added 43 important runs in an unbroken partnership for the seventh wicket with Usman Saeed (12 not out) to help UBL post 131 for six on the board.
Naveed then took two wickets at the top of the order to jolt NTDE in their chase and they failed to recover from those early blows. With Mujahid Amin (2 for 27) and Umar Farooq (2 for 15) also taking two wickets apiece, NTDE were bowled out for 102 in 19.2 overs despite a battling 33-ball 49 (four fours, two sixes) from Mohammed Asghar.
