David joined The National in Abu Dhabi in April 2026. He has reported from nearly 20 countries across Asia, Europe and the Middle East, including covering conflicts in the Balkans, Ukraine and the Middle East. He served as a correspondent in Tehran, and edited Middle East coverage for Agence France-Presse, among other roles with News Corp and Australian Associated Press. Born in Australia and raised in Papua New Guinea, he has spent most of his career overseas.
