It's two weeks since their last game, and an unknown wait until the next, but Liverpool remain the best team in Europe until the coronavirus pandemic lifts.

Despite their untimely exit from the Champions League, last season's winners are top of the pile among Europe's elite.

An ongoing rating index by website euroclubindex.com studies teams in the highest division of all European countries.

The Euro Club Index (ECI) shows their relative playing strengths, and their development using results in league matches, domestic cup games and in the Champions League, Europa League and Super Cup.

The format is updated throughout the season, and with Liverpool's incredible record in the Premier League - one defeat all campaign - and their Champions League success last season, it currently puts them ahead of Barcelona and Manchester City in the top three.

There are still nine games to go in the Premier League, and with an all-time best 25-point lead Jurgen Klopp's side will be impossible to catch at home.

But will they remain on top in the index? The entire top 20 clubs in Europe are ranked in the gallery above. To see the next team just swipe.
