Mohamed Salah, Riyad Mahrez and the best Arab players in world football - in pictures

Egyptian forward Salah enjoyed another memorable season as Liverpool were crowned Champions League winners

Arab footballers form an integral part of some of Europe's top teams, none more so than Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian forward who helped fire Liverpool to the Uefa Champions League title against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid on June 1.

Algeria international Riyad Mahrez became Manchester City's record signing when he joined Pep Guardiola's side last summer for a fee of £60 million (Dh278.7m), and played a role in the club signing off the 2018/19 season by winning an historic English treble of Premier League, League Cup and FA Cup.

Hakim Ziyech starred as a youthful Ajax toppled the likes of Juventus and Real Madrid on their way to the Champions League semi-finals. The Moroccan winger registered 21 goals and 22 assists as Ajax secured a domestic league-and-cup double.

That trio will have another chance to showcase their talents at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Egypt from June 21-July 19, while others will look to use the summer break to recharge and keep performing at the top level throughout the 2019/20 campaign.
