China fought back from being a goal down at half time to beat Thailand 2-1 in their Asian Cup second-round match on Sunday.
Thailand had led at half time at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium thanks to Supachai Jaided's close range effort.
But China levelled in the 67th minute as Xiao Zhi was first to react after his header had been saved by Thai goalkeeper Sivarak Tedsungnoen and rammed home the rebound.
Tedsungnoen was beaten four minutes later as Gao Lin scored from penalty spot after he had been felled in the penalty area.
China survived late pressure and they will face either Iran or Oman in the quarter-finals on Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
