The English Premier League kicked off on Saturday, August 16, 2014 as seven matches were played and a handful were decided with dramatic goals in injury time.

With new manager Louis van Gaal at the helm, Manchester United dropped their opener 2-1 to Swansea City at Old Trafford, a late goal from Aaron Ramsey lifted Arsenal past a short-handed Crystal Palace side 2-1 while a patchwork Aston Villa defence got the job done against Stoke City 1-0.

The action continues Sunday with two more matches and Chelsea will visit Premier League newcomer Burnley on Monday night.
