Although there is no doubt that sheer determination and discipline have plenty do to with it, age is clearly being kind to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Juventus striker is experiencing yet another purple patch of form as he celebrates his 35th birthday on February 5.
Sixteen goals in 11 matches since the start of December is the type of form you would expect from a player in his early to mid-20s, not a man who could have walked away from football by now and still be remembered as one of the top three greatest players ever.
But is he an anomaly as a 35-year-old still banging in the goals?
Some, such as Marco Van Basten, are downright unfortunate when it comes to injury and are finished before the age of 30. Others, such as Michael Owen, try to play on but eventually concede defeat before reaching 35.
And if Ronaldo needs to compare himself when it comes to longevity at the top level, he may just take a look at the achievements of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Take a look in the slideshow at the top to see how the top strikers were performing when they turned 35.
