Centre midfield: N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)
Leicester got an unwanted illustration of their former player’s energy and ability as he dominated the midfield to set up Chelsea’s 3-0 win.
Centre midfield: Joe Allen (Stoke City)
His sudden transformation into a scorer continued with a well-taken double to earn Stoke a first league win of the season.
Left midfield: Jose Holebas (Watford)
Playing as a wing-back, he showed his attacking threat with a terrific winner to earn Watford three points at Middlesbrough.
Striker: Theo Walcott (Arsenal)
Scored two, almost had two more but proved decisive in Arsenal’s sixth successive win, a 3-2 triumph over Swansea City.
Striker: Charlie Austin (Southampton)
Reminded his former club of his talents with a predatory double as Burnley were overwhelmed 3-1 at St Mary’s Stadium.
