WEST HAM UNITED 2 QUEENS PARK RANGERS 0
West Ham United - Onuoha (og) 5', Sakho 59'
West Ham United moved up to seventh in the English Premier League table after beating bottom side Queens Park Rangers 2-0 on Sunday, with Sam Allardyce, the West Ham manager, crediting his side's resilience.
An early own goal from Nedum Onuoha and a second-half strike from Diafra Sakho gave West Ham the points, a result that came with seven first-team players out injured.
“The strength in depth in my squad has shown through,” Allardyce said. “That tested the capacity of our squad and we have come up trumps. It’s always good going into the international break in the top half of the table, and we are in double figures after seven games.”
Harry Redknapp, the QPR manager, bemoaned his side’s poor start.
“We wanted to get into the game and silence the crowd and then we go and concede the goal,” he said. “It was the worst possible start, and then they up their game and it becomes more difficult.”
