Premier League predictions: Arsenal supreme, Liverpool back on song

We pick out the winners and losers from the English top-flight weekend fixtures

SATURDAY: Leicester City v Manchester City (3.30pm, UAE) - Erling Haaland has gone a whole week without scoring a goal. The Manchester City striker was unusually quiet before being subbed in the midweek Champions League game against former club Borussia Dortmund with a 'fever'. So nothing to worry about, Leicester! Bournemouth v Tottenham (6pm) - Spurs will be smarting after a home defeat to Newcastle last time out. They remain third, but Antonio Conte will be determined to put things right against a struggling defence on the south coast. Prediction: Bournemouth 1 Tottenham 3. AP

Brentford v Wolves (6pm) - After a humiliating 4-0 home reverse against Leicester, it wasn't the greatest surprise that QPR coach Michael Beale turned down the opportunity to take over at managerless Wolves in midweek. Second bottom and out of sorts, could be another tough afternoon. Prediction: Brentford 2 Wolves 0. PA

Brighton v Chelsea (6pm) - The Blues will have been sick to let slip their lead against Manchester United deep into time added on. It brought an end to a fine winning streak, and Graham Potter will want to get straight back on it against a Brighton side just beginning to show a few weaknesses. Prediction: Brighton 1 Chelsea 3. Crystal Palace v Southampton (6pm) - Palace were just building up some momentum before getting turned over by Everton last weekend, while the Saints grabbed an unlikely point against leaders Arsenal. Will be tight, but just favours Palace. Prediction: Palace 2 Southampton 1. Action Images

Newcastle United v Aston Villa (6pm) - A fine win for Newcastle at Tottenham last weekend was a sign of what's to come for the Magpies under Eddie Howe and access to the transfer market. Villa, meanwhile, reacted to Steven Gerrard's sacking with their best performance of the season in thrashing Brentford. Prediction: Newcastle 3 Villa 0. Getty

Fulham v Everton (8.30pm) - Marco Silva has had a chequered career in the Premier League, but remeber when he was heralded as the next big thing? Well Fulham are now getting the benefits of his talents, remarkably sitting in seventh place. Prediction: Fulham 1 Everton 1. Getty

Liverpool v Leeds United (10.45pm) - Jurgen Klopp admitted Liverpool's defeat at Forest was particularly hard to bear in a difficult start to the season. “I’m feeling as low as possible,” he said. Ten points behind Man City, and trailing Arsenal by 12, their title hopes are probably over already. At least they face struggling Leeds. Prediction: Liverpool 3 Leeds 0. Getty

SUNDAY: Arsenal v Nottingham Forest (6pm) - Dropping points at Southampton after taking the lead was not the usual Arsenal of this season. While Forest beat Liverpool, they might not find the Gunners so forgiving. Prediction: Arsenal 4 Forest 0. Getty

Manchester United v West Ham United (8.15pm) - United manager Erik ten Hag says all is forgotten after the falling out with Cristiano Ronaldo. But for how long? Time will tell. Prediction: Man United 2 West Ham 1.PA

Just three rounds of Premier League fixtures before the 2022 World Cup takes over, and all managers will be trying to keep their players' minds on domestic business.

Much can change before Qatar kicks off on November 20 in this stop-start season, and there is no doubt fatigue will play a big part somewhere down the line.

A mammoth Saturday of fixtures gets under way with champions Manchester City making the trip to Leicester City. That's the first of eight games, with the others including Tottenham travelling to Bournemouth and on-a-roll Newcastle hosting Aston Villa. The day rounds off with wounded Liverpool taking out their frustrations on Leeds United.

An all-action Saturday means a quieter Sunday, with leaders Arsenal hosting Nottingham Forest, and West Ham travelling to meet Manchester United and a forgiven Cristiano Ronaldo.
