Andy Flower will coach Maratha Arabians in the Abu Dhabi T10 next month.

The franchise announced the appointment of the former Zimbabwe captain on Tuesday, two days after it was revealed he was ending his 12-year stint with the England and Wales Cricket Board.

During his spell as England head coach, Flower oversaw England’s rise to number one in the world Test rankings, victory at the 2010 World Twenty20, and Ashes success in Australia in 2010-11.

“I have just come off a tremendous run with English cricket and am now looking ahead to the future with hope,” Flower said.

“Anything that is new and is innovative like T10 cricket always has an automatic appeal.

“From a coaching perspective it presents new challenges to test yourself against in a world-class environment.

“I am looking forward to joining forces with some of the world’s best players for Maratha Arabians."

The franchise also announced that Dwayne Bravo will remain as the side’s captain.

The player draft ahead of the new season of the 10-over league will take place on Wednesday.

The first matches are scheduled for Friday November 15 at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
