Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is expected to sign for Liverpool in the coming days after a fee was agreed between the two clubs.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have met the £32.5m (Dh186.3m) release clause in Benteke's contract and have reached an agreement with Villa over the finer details of the deal.
Benteke, 24, is now expected to undergo his Liverpool medical this week before completing his switch to Anfield.
The deal for the Belgium international further bolsters Liverpool’s attacking ranks, with Danny Ings already recruited this summer, while Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli, and Fabio Borini remain on the books. While Sturridge remains an integral part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans, Balotelli and Borini are deemed surplus to requirements.
Benteke’s arrival will represent Liverpool’s first large outlay since the £49m departure of Raheem Sterling to Manchester City.
Benteke has scored 42 Premier League goals in three seasons since moving from Genk, including 13 last season, 11 of which came in the final nine games.
