A Lebanese government delegation has visited Dubai to learn from the UAE's expertise in government modernisation, artificial intelligence and future readiness.
Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, received the delegation and reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to sharing its government expertise with allied nations, state news agency Wam reported on Tuesday.
“Exchanging successful experiences shortens development distances and contributes to building more efficient, flexible and future-ready governments capable of turning challenges and changes into opportunities,” Mr Al Gergawi said.
The Lebanese delegation included Amer Bsat, Minister of Economy and Trade, and Kamal Shehadeh, Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence and Minister of the Displaced. The visit was organised by the Government Knowledge Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.
During the visit, the Lebanese delegation was introduced to key UAE government initiatives spanning artificial intelligence, strategic planning, zero bureaucracy, smart government services, future foresight, innovation and institutional excellence.
Mr Al Gergawi described the engagement as an extension of the fraternal ties between the two countries, expressing hope that it would open new avenues for practical co-operation aligned with Lebanon's governmental priorities.
The visit falls under the UAE's Government Knowledge Exchange Programme, launched in 2018 to share best practices and expertise with friendly and allied nations. Since its inception, the programme has established partnerships with dozens of countries across areas including government modernisation, strategic planning, service development and capacity building.
Mr Al Gergawi emphasised that the UAE's approach to knowledge sharing reflects directives from the country's leadership, which views inter-governmental co-operation as a significant driver of accelerated development.
The exchange with Lebanon is seen as a means of supporting the country's institutional modernisation efforts while strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
