Dubai is already home to the world's tallest hotel — the Gevora on Sheikh Zayed Road — but the city is set to break its own record when Ciel hotel opens at the end of 2022 or in early 2023.

When complete, the 82-level Ciel in Dubai Marina will be four metres taller than the emirate's current title holder.

The 360-metre building will have 1,209 luxury hotel suites and serviced residences spread over 82 levels. The project is being developed by The First Group and designed by Norr architects, the same people responsible for Dubai's Atlantis, The Palm.

360-degree glass observation deck

Inside, the hotel will be all about contemporary interiors with a side of luxury and allocated green spaces. A lot of the action will take place up on the roof.

As well as a glass observation deck with 360-degree views over Dubai Marina, The Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf, Ciel's rooftop will also have a leisure deck, a bar and an infinity swimming pool that will be one of the highest in the world.

It will also be home to two of Ciel's four new restaurants. Guests dining at this height will be able to enjoy towering skyline views alongside their meal. Which restaurants will open in the hotel are still being confirmed but a spokesperson for The First Group said "some incredibly exciting concepts will be announced soon".

Award-winning architecture

At this week's 2019 International property awards in London, Ciel took home awards for Best International Hotel Architecture, Best Hotel Architecture Arabia and Best Residential High-rise Architecture Arabia.

Located in Dubai Marina, just in front of Cayan Tower, the hotel is within walking distance of Marina Walk and Marina Mall and within easy reach of Bluewaters Island.
