Abu Dhabi’s latest food festival will be the flavour of next month

The Abu Dhabi Flavors Festival is just a few weeks away and this year it will feature food offerings from more than 100 tents and trucks.

The 10-day food fiesta is set to take place at Umm Al Emarat Park from March 30 to April 8 and will include a Flavors League competition, which is being touted by organisers as the “biggest head-to-head food competition in the region”.

Organisers say it will feature the best competitive eaters in the capital who will get the opportunity to flex their appetites in a bid to claim the title of Flavors League Champion 2017 and a cash prize of Dh5,000.

Aside from this culinary feat, burger lovers will be able to indulge in a first-of-its-kind Burger Grand Prix - a lap challenge. Two applicants will be selected each day to complete a lap of five burger stops at the festival, where they have to finish a burger at each stop to reach the next.

And that’s not all, the Tabkhati (My Recipe) contest will give would-be chefs a chance to demonstrate their talents in the kitchen. Interested participants are invited to upload a photo of a special dish on Facebook or Instagram with the recipe in the post, using the hashtag #Tabkhati and tag @ADFlavors. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to have their dishes judged at the festival on April 8.

For those with kids there are activities just for them too, including magicians, arts and crafts workshops, outdoor play stations and Football Freestylers, who will wow the crowds with their tricks.

“The festival aims to provide a unique taste of UAE’s rich and diverse cuisine, which is a blend of different influences and inspirations, making it as international as much as it is local,” says Majid El Hamamy, the General Manager of Line Rise Exhibitions. “We have received an overwhelming response from F&B brands, and we are eagerly looking forward to delivering a successful event.”

The Flavors Festival will be open from 2pm-midnight daily from March 30 to April 8. Entry is free, although there is a Dh5 park entrance fee.
