She portrayed a Hollywood starlet often snapped on the red carpet in 1999's Notting Hill, and the apple doesn't really fall from the tree.

Julia Roberts, 53, has long been one of the film industry's most famous leading ladies, after making her big screen debut in 1988's Satisfaction.

Since then, she's gone on to star in the likes of Ocean's 11, Pretty Woman, My Best Friend's Wedding and Stepmom, even winning an Oscar in 2001 for her performance in hard-hitting Erin Brockovich.

Much like in the way she's built a career on veering between comedy gold and

moving drama, Roberts has also shown off her range on the red carpet, morphing from '90s separates (think embossed leather trouser) to slick, sleek eveningwear in recent years.

Often relying on the likes of Valentino, Givenchy and Armani for timeless, sweeping gowns, the American actress also has a penchant for elegant, sharply cut tailoring, often donning suiting for awards bashes and premieres.
