Aspiring fashion designers and artists around the world will want to get their hands on an exclusive Karlbox, containing 350 Faber-Castell art tools for painting and drawing. The box, which naturally, was designed by Karl Lagerfeld, is intended to look like a Chinese wedding cabinet. Removable drawers store a range of coloured pencils, graphite pencils, ink pens, crayons and pastels — each chosen personally by Lagerfeld. Customers also receive watercolour brushes, a foldable water cup, an eraser and pencil sharpeners when purchasing a Karlbox.

“To me, drawing is like breathing and writing. These are things that almost relax me,” says Lagerfeld. “Since I was a child in Germany, Faber-Castell has been the most famous brand, known for its especially good quality. That reputation remains just as true today, particularly for artist pencils.”

2,500 Karlboxes were produced, and launched worldwide in stores and online on September 1. Unfortunately, they have already sold out, even with the costly price of Dh10,240 per box. However, the Karlbox will be available again in select department stores and speciality stores from September 9.
