Personalised attire and accessories are becoming increasingly popular, with an onslaught of everything from embroidered denims to acrylic clutches, emblazoned with names, initials or slogans.
The craze applies to beach bags too, which are especially relevant in the UAE, where women tend to dress up just for a trip to the beach or pool. UK-based pop artist Boyarde has tapped into the trend, and is launching her debut collection of hand-painted beach bags at the Beach Boutique pop-up next week in Dubai.
“My clients, a lot of whom are from the Middle East, are always looking for something fun and unique to them, which prompted me to create the beach bag collection,” said Boyarde. “With the beach season fast approaching, and resort living all year round in the Middle East, I am extremely excited to be launching my line in the UAE.”
Her bags are sustainably-made in Morocco from palm leaves and leather straps, and feature iconic figures such as Frida Khalo and Carmen Miranda, as well as festive fruits like pineapples and watermelons. For an extra touch of exclusivity, clients can have their initials painted onto the bags.
Previous work by Boyarde includes collaborations with Selfridges London, Liberty London and Smythson. She was also commissioned to paint 100 pairs of Charlotte Olympia shoes for Neiman Marcus in Miami.
The new beach bags will be available at High Tide Showroom’s Beach Boutique pop-up shop from October 23-28 at La Serre in Vida Hotel, Dubai. Prices start from Dh1,500.
