ABU DHABI // Emirati passport holders can now enter the Chinese provinces of Shanghahi, Jiangsu and Zhejiang and stay for six days without the need for a visa.
According to state news agency Wam, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said it had received word from the Chinese government.
Ahmed Elham Al Dhaheri, assistant undersecretary for consular affairs, said Emiratis wishing to receive a transit permit should have a valid ordinary Emirati passport, an air ticket showing date of departure and seat number on a flight bound for a third country before the period of 144 hours is over.
Emiratis wishing to get a visa to China still need to apply directly at Chinese missions in the UAE.
Mr Al Dhaheri said that Emiratis should register with the ministry’s Tawajedi (My Whereabouts) service through the ministry’s website, www.mofa.gov.ae and download a mobile app, UAEMOFA before they leave the country.
