The Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) has appointed Mohammed Mubarak al Mazrouei as its chairman in a board reshuffle initiated by a member of the Royal Family. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, also named two new board members, Saeed Mubarak al Hajeri and Noura Hilal al Kaabi.
They join the existing board members Ahmed Ali al Sayegh, Mohamed Omar Abdullah, Mubarak Hamad al Muhairi and Abdulla Ali al Ahbabi. Mr al Mazrouei is also the Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Diwan. He served as a member of the Abu Dhabi Government Restructuring Committee. Mr al Hajeri is the executive director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority's emerging markets department, among other high-profile roles.
Ms al Kaabi is the head of the Tawasol division at Abu Dhabi's media production zone twofour54, according to the company's website. She holds a bachelor's degree in management information systems. The former chairman of ADMC, Mohammed Khalaf al Mazrouei, has been appointed as an adviser for culture and heritage affairs at the Court of the Crown Prince, according to the UAE's state-run news service WAM.
ADMC was created in 2007 as a public joint stock company from the assets of Emirates Media Incorporated. It owns and operates a range of TV channels, including National Geographic Abu Dhabi, five radio stations and publications including Al Ittihad newspaper, Zahrat Al Khaleej magazine and Majid magazine. It also owns and publishes The National. The company holds a number of other media-related businesses, including Imagenation Abu Dhabi, which develops, finances and produces full-length feature films and digital content; LIVE, which owns a fleet of outdoor HD broadcast vans; and the United Printing Press.
ADMC's Digital Group operates several digital assets including Getmo Arabia, goalarabia.com, and super.ae. Last year it formed two significant partnerships: VEVO, the online music video platform with Universal Music Group and Sony Music; and a joint-venture with video game company Gazillion Entertainment. @Email:bflanagan@thenational.ae
