Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards heading to Abu Dhabi

The capital seals deal to host a regional version of the popular kids' TV awards for next five years

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA) is coming to Abu Dhabi as part of a five-year deal between the Department of Culture and Tourism and Viacom, the owner of Nickelodeon.

The first Nickelodeon KCA Abu Dhabi will take place on September 20 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and kids and their families will be able to enjoy three days with their favourite Nickelodeon characters at the concurrent World of Nickelodeon event.

The first version of the globally renowned kids event to be staged in the Middle East will feature musical and entertainment performances. Previous regional versions of the event have taken place inBerlin, London and Mexico City.

Saif Saeed Ghobash, Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “An event of this stature fits perfectly with our mandate to provide the very best entertainment and activations for all sectors of society, and we are looking forward to seeing overseas visitor numbers increasing as a consequence of securing this significant event for Abu Dhabi for the next five years.”

DCT Abu Dhabi said it will also launch additional events and activities to run alongside the award ceremony and the already announced The World of Nickelodeon, which will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from September 19-21.

The Nickelodeon kids’ channel is home to family favourites including Dora the Explorer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Spongebob Squarepants. Previous awards ceremonies have been hosted by celebrities including Jack Black and Rosie O’Donnell.
