It will be a Ramadan miracle if Dina El Sherbiny’s latest TV drama makes it on air in time for the holy month.
The anticipated series, La'bet Al Nisyan, has been plagued by issues since filming began at the start of year. The latest of which is the Egyptian star's co-lead Ahmed Fahmi is unable to shoot vital scenes due to being stuck in Beirut.
With the Lebanese government suspending all in and out bound flights from Egypt, and Ramadan projected to begin around Thursday, April 23, producers are in a race against time to shooting key scenes.
According to Laha magazine, discussions have taken place to find a late replacement for Fahmi.
The move would make it the second time an actor pulled out of the role. Fahmi was hired as a replacement for Ahmed El Saadany last month, after the latter walked away from the role due to creative differences. Not long after, Hana Shiha was also forced to discontinue with a key role due to falling severely ill.
La'bet Al Nisyan is not the only drama under the pressure in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
Travel restrictions have also affected the production of Saudi drama Iktiraf. Shot in Egypt, the country's government's decision to suspend all travel to and from all airports until March 31 means key scenes featuring Saudi and Egyptian talent have yet to be completed.
While the fate of Hajma Murarda also remains up in the air. The espionage drama, starring Egyptian actor Ahmed Ezz, has a globetrotting plot line and incorporates scenes in various European locations.
