Electronic beats could be heard above the sounds of mourners celebrating a life in England this Friday, as Prodigy frontman Keith Flint was laid to rest in his home town.

Thousands of fans flocked to Essex for Flint's funeral. They lined the streets in Braintree, as they watched a horse-drawn carriage carry his coffin, which was topped with a green microphone.

People came from across the world to pay their respects, from as near as Germany and Prague, and as far as Australia.

One fan, Araks Azarian, arrived from Australia on the morning of the funeral, reported The Guardian. She said she made the journey as "I've been doing it for years, to see the boys, and this is going to be my last chance to do it".

'Raise the roof for Keef'

Prodigy bandmates Liam Howlett, Maxim and Leeroy Thornhill also attended the service, alongside Flint's wife.

The band, which rose to prominence in the '90s with hits like Firestarter and Out of Space, previously called on fans to "raise the roof for Keef".

Flint was found dead aged 49 in his Essex home earlier this month. He had committed suicide, Howlett confirmed. "The news is true," he wrote on a post on Instagram. "I can’t believe I’m saying this but our brother Keith took his own life over the weekend, I’m shell shocked, angry, confused and heart broken ..... r.i.p brother Liam."

The band has since cancelled all of its gigs, including an appearance at Glastonbury.
