K-Pop girl group Momoland will be making their Middle East debut when they bring their Momoland: Live in Concert gig to Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on January 4.

The group was founded in 2016 after searching for its members on a reality show called Finding Momoland. While there were initially seven members selected, two more were called up later. The K-pop act is currently comprised of nine: Nancy, Nayun, Jane, JooE, Ahin, Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Taeha, and Daisy. This year, the band rose to super stardom with their sleeper hit Bboom Bboom.

The music video has more than 250 million views and Momoland recently became the first K-pop girl group to earn a Platinum certification from the Goan Music Chart after the song was streamed more than 100 million times.

The UAE has had a wave of K-Pop acts coming to the Emirates. In July, the boy band Exo was honoured with an LED light and sound show on the facade of the Burj Khalifa.

In April, the SM Town Live Dubai concert took place. The four-hour event featured some of K-Pop's biggest stars including Exo, BoA, Super Junior, SHINee, Red Velvet and more perform their hit songs in front of their fans.

Exo was also in town in the beginning of the year when they became the first K-Pop band to have their music played at the Dubai Fountain. (Here's how their fans welcomed them at the Dubai Airport).
