Pregnant Rihanna honoured with a marble statue by The Met after missing 2022 gala

Rihanna has been a regular at the Met Gala in recent years, providing several standout looks that continuously nail the fundraiser’s themes.

And while she may have been absent from this year’s Met Gala red carpet, the star’s presence was still very much felt inside The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where she was honoured with a statue.

As part of the surprise, organised by Vogue in collaboration with the museum, the pregnant singer was immortalised in marble, modelled on the recent cover shoot she did for the May issue of the magazine.

For one night only, the figure was placed where the statue of Eirene (The Personification of Peace) stands. Sharing a video to Instagram, the magazine said: “Eirene (The Personification of Peace) is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries. But now we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover.”

And Rihanna was clearly thrilled with the honour. Reposting the video, she wrote: “shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!”

While she may have missed from this year’s event, Rihanna has still been making waves over the past few months, pushing boundaries with her pregnancy style.

The singer, who announced she is expecting her first child with rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky earlier this year, has been praised for her cutting-edge looks, which have seen her display her growing bump with pride.
