Giorgio Armani captured hearts from the get-go at Milan Fashion Week on Friday. The designer opened his Emporio Armani spring/summer 2016 runway show with a grey trouser and trench combination, paired with a pastel pink smiley face crop top worn underneath.

The slightly quirky, youthful vibe was carried throughout the collection of the Armani diffusion line, with elements like neck ties, salmon pink palettes, delicate prints and pinches of leather.

Refreshing silhouettes were shown in the forms of relaxed Bermuda shorts, short textured bombers and open-front tunics over trousers. Tangerine and coral colour combinations, as well as elegant one-shoulder pieces, added an energetic and free-spirited tone.

Overall, the collection gave a playful update to smart-casual separates, and is sure to influence our new season workwear wardrobes next summer.
