President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden left a cheerful Valentine’s Day message in front of the White House on Friday.

The couple strolled along the White House’s North Lawn with their two dogs to admire the giant hearts displaying words like “kindness", "healing", "compassion", "love" and "unity.”

“I just wanted some joy,” the first lady told reporters during the couple’s stroll. “With the pandemic, everybody’s been feeling a little down. So, it’s just a little joy, a little hope, that’s all.”

The president and the first lady chatted with reporters outside the building for about four minutes before heading back into the White House.

Before leaving, Mr Biden gave a reporter his coffee after she teased him that he had not brought any for the press.
