ISTANBUL // A Qatar Airways aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport on Thursday after one of its engines caught fire shortly after take-off, broadcaster CNN Turk reported.
Anadolu Agency said Thursday that Qatar Airways’ Doha-bound Airbus A330 experienced a technical fault concerning one of its motors.
There were no immediate reports of any casualties.
Qatar Airways said the aircraft landed safely and that passengers had disembarked as normal.
“Today’s QR240 from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Doha has returned to Istanbul and has landed safely. The passengers have disembarked as normal. The pilot followed all QR safety procedures,” the Arabian Gulf carrier said in a statement.
