Five Emiratis killed in Oman road crash

OMAN // Five Emiratis have been killed in a crash involving three vehicles in Oman on Friday morning.

A 9-year-old girl, two women and two men from the same family died when the Lexus 4x4 they were travelling in collided with a lorry and a pick-up truck in Adam, Dhakliya governate, about 220km from Muscat.

The dead are Salama Ahmad Saad Al Menhali, 9; Fatima Mubarak bin Madi, 20; Wafa Saad Al Menhali, 48; Ali Saleh bin Madi and the owner of the vehicle, Ahmad Saad Al Menhali, 60, who was a retired captain from Al Ain.

The driver of the 4x4 had deviated from the lane and hit the lorry, which was travelling in the opposite direction, before also hitting the pick-up truck. The car, which was travelling to Salalah, was destroyed on impact.

One survivor, Hamida Awad Al Makhashen, 52, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Nizwa Hospital in Oman.

The bodies of the dead have reportedly been flown to Al Ain Hospital by Royal Oman Police.
