BEIRUT // Lebanon's state-run news agency says 14 people have been killed and more than 200 wounded in a car bomb explosion that ripped through a stronghold of the militant Hizbollah group in a southern suburb of the capital Beirut.
Thursday's explosion triggered raging fires in cars and buildings, trapping dozens of people in a residential and commercial neighbourhood.
The National News Agency said at least 14 people were killed and 212 wounded in the blast in the Rweiss district.
It is the second such explosion in just over a month. Last month, a powerful car bomb exploded in a neighbouring suburb, wounding more than 50 people.
