ISLAMABAD // Pakistan has appointed its first female foreign affairs minister, filling an important cabinet position days before peace talks with arch-rival India.
A statement from the foreign office said Hina Rabbani Khar was also the youngest foreign minister in Pakistan's history, but does not state her age.
Ms Khar, who previously served as deputy foreign minister, was sworn in yesterday. She is expected to meet with the Indian foreign minister this month as part of a peace process that has struggled since the 2008 Mumbai attacks
