NEW DELHI // The Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the murder trial of two dentists accused of murdering their daughter and a domestic worker will go forward.
Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were charged in January after police found their daughter Aarushi, 14, dead in their home with her throat slit in May 2008. The body of Hemraj, the family's domestic worker, was found a day later on the terrace of the house.
The couple had petitioned to throw the case out, citing a lack of evidence.
"We will defend our honour and that of our only child, Aarushi, vigorously in court and we will not rest till all our innocence is proved ... and the real killers are apprehended and brought to trial," the couple said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation took over the investigation from local police, who were criticised for their work. The CBI has said there is enough circumstantial evidence to prosecute the couple, but admits to a lack of hard evidence such as a murder weapon.

How the bonus system works
The two riders are among several riders in the UAE to receive the top payment of £10,000 under the Thank You Fund of £16 million (Dh80m), which was announced in conjunction with Deliveroo's £8 billion (Dh40bn) stock market listing earlier this year.
The £10,000 (Dh50,000) payment is made to those riders who have completed the highest number of orders in each market.
There are also riders who will receive payments of £1,000 (Dh5,000) and £500 (Dh2,500).
All riders who have worked with Deliveroo for at least one year and completed 2,000 orders will receive £200 (Dh1,000), the company said when it announced the scheme.
