ABU DHABI // Two Asian women have been charged with practising medicine without a licence after they seriously harmed an Arab woman by injecting with her with what they claimed was a cosmetic filler.
Public prosecutors said the suspects had charged Dh14,000 to perform two procedures on the victim, injecting her with an unknown substance.
Six months later, the victim started experiencing redness and soreness in treated area. She was informed by doctors that she had caught an incurable disease from the injected substance, which had spread throughout her body.
Police caught the two women after the victim lured them to her house under the pretence of requiring new injections.
The suspects claimed they had injected the plaintiff with a single 400ml dosage and not two needles as she claimed.
The women have been held in custody since their arrest and referred to the Court of Misdemeanour.
The Public Prosecution urged the public to avoid establishments or individuals who provide unlicensed medical services.
