DUBAI// A worker raped a maid in a bathroom at her sponsor’s home before threatening to send images of the woman naked to her family if she went to the police, a court was told.
The Pakistani defendant, 21, denied charges of rape, sexual assault and issuing death and defamation threats when he appeared at Dubai Criminal Court.
The Filipina victim, 45, said she was cleaning her sponsor’s home in Al Khawaneej on April 2 when she saw the defendant in the toilet.
“Suddenly I saw him, he locked the door and hit me then stripped me naked. When I screamed he told me he would kill me. After that, he took off his clothes and ordered me to touch him,” said the maid, adding that she begged him to let her go and told him she was a mother and a wife, but he did not listen.
The defendant pushed her to the ground and raped her.
“I wanted to scare him so I told him I heard footsteps so I asked him to give me my clothes. I got dressed and ran to my room crying,” she said.
The maid told a co-worker who informed their sponsor who then called the police.
The woman told officers the defendant had a video showing her naked and threatened to defame her if she reported the rape.
Court records did not say if the defendant was an intruder or worked at the same house as the maid.
In court, he said he had consensual sex with the woman and made a video of her but denied using the clip to threaten her.
The next hearing will be on November 28.
