An Emirati journalist employed by Wam, the state news agency, and based in Fujairah has died in a car accident on the Dibba-Masafi road near Al Halat.
Mohammed Al Shujaa, who was with Wam for more than nine years, was driving at 8.30am when his vehicle swerved off course and hit a lamppost on the roadside, then rolled over to the bottom of valley. Al Shujaa was speaking normally to his rescuers throughout the rescue operations as Civil Defence cut him out of his vehicle.
He was immediately transported to hospital and died at 11.15am. The cause of death is believed to be internal haemorrhage. He was alone in the vehicle.
