Waiter ‘molested girl as she sat on his knee’

Waiter is accused of molesting a four-year-old girl at a restaurant.

DUBAI // A waiter molested a four-year-old girl at a restaurant in front of her parents, a court heard on Tuesday.

Indian S R, 22, sat beside the family at the restaurant where he worked in Bur Dubai and asked the girl to sit on his knee so he could play with her, prosecutors said.

After they left, the child said he had touched her private parts.

The mother reported the incident, on August 12 this year, at Al Rafaa police station.

The waiter was arrested and confessed, according to prosecutors.

But at the Criminal Court he denied a charge of molestation.

“Her parents were present, I couldn’t have done what I’m accused of while they were present,” he said.

A verdict is expected on October 29.
