A community initiative has been launched by the Martyrs Families Affairs Office and Takatof in honour of Emiratis who have died in the service of the country.

Members of the public are encouraged to volunteer their time to projects that benefit their community and the country as a mark of respect for and appreciation of the UAE’s heroes.

Takatof, the nationwide social volunteering programme, will hold a series of meetings and workshops designed to encourage volunteerism and enrol residents and citizens alike in a host of community projects. The initiative will also include several discussion sessions on the humanitarian role played by the UAE internationally and how volunteering can contribute.

Training sessions will be held from November 28 to 30 in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah to attract members of the public interested in becoming involved in the initiative.

At each event, there will be a panel discussion followed by a training session entitled “How to become a Volunteer”.

MFAO at the Crown Prince’s Court of Abu Dhabi has also announced a series of activities to honour the UAE’s heroes on the occasion of Commemoration Day on November 30. The activities include promoting the social media hashtag #RememberingOurHeroes, as well as honour-and-pride themed messages recorded in video booths, and a minute of silent prayer.
