Vietnamese man admits running brothel from Dubai apartment

DUBAI // A Vietnamese man has confessed to running a brothel from an apartment in International City.

“I’m guilty and I just want to go home,” said L T, 28, when he appeared at the criminal court on Monday morning.

The court heard that on May 15 last year, an Indian man, K S, 30, said he was walking in International City when he found a business card advertising the brothel’s massage services.

He claimed to have visited the address on the card, but no one opened the door when he rang the bell.

Shortly after he left, a number of Asian men attacked him with swords and baseball bats.

An eyewitness to the incident, Emirati S A, said he he was driving through the area when he spotted a man being repeatedly battered by a gang.

“I screamed at them to stop the assault but they responded by saying that the man was not a good man,” said S A.

S A called the police but the attackers had fled by the time officers arrived.

K S needed hospital treatment for his injuries.

The men who assaulted K S, who could have faced an attempted murder charge, were never arrested.

K S claimed he did not the know the reasons why he was attacked.

Police later raided the apartment and found three women were working there as prostitutes.

The defendant said he was paid Dh3,000 a month to manage the brothel.

A verdict is expected on April 28.
