UAE weather: Rough seas and haze as cyclone nears Oman

The weather will be hazy and partly cloudy with moderate winds across the country.

ABU DHABI // Meteorologists warned on Thursday of rough weather in the Sea of Oman while conditions will be unsettled in the Arabian Gulf, as a tropical storm continues towards Oman.

Weather will be hazy and partly cloudy with moderate winds across the country, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said. It reported fog over Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi and Liwa in the early morning hours of Thursday.

Temperatures will reach highs of 35°C to 42°C and lows of 29°C to 32°C in coastal areas and highs of 42°C to 47°C and lows of 26°C to 31°C in internal areas. The relative humidity will increase during the night over coastal areas with a chance of fog in the west.

Cyclone Ashobaa, meanwhile, is heading towards Oman with surface wind speeds of up to 82 kilometres per hour, meteorologists have said.

Omani weather authorities said at 4am that the storm was about 170km away from the Southern Al Sharqiya coast and was expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall and fresh to strong gale winds over parts of the country.

The Sea of Oman will remain rough.
