ABU DHABI // The capital will host an international summit next week to fight the online sexual exploitation of children.

Delegates from more than 50 countries will discuss how to protect victims and prevent misuse of the internet to exploit children.

The UAE intends to provide all means of enhancing the protection of children, said Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The country was committed to the protection of children from online predators and to ensure justice for children who were victims of such abuse, in their own countries as well as globally, he said.

The Ministry of Interior also yesterday assumed the chairmanship of the Virtual Global Taskforce, a group of law enforcement agencies from around the world who operate together to curb online child pornography.

“The UAE endeavours constantly to be a … centre of excellence in child protection,” Sheikh Saif said.
