UAE sets record for largest pencil flag

Abu Dhabi schoolchildren formed the flag using one million pencils – 250,000 of each colour – on a total surface area of 1,000 square metres.

The UAE set another Guinness World Record, for forming the country’s biggest flag out of pencils at Emirates Palace on National Day.

The event was held in the presence of various public officials and school pupils.Following the national anthem, Abu Dhabi schoolchildren formed the flag using one million pencils – 250,000 of each colour – on a total surface area of 1,000 square metres. The last pencil was placed by Maj Gen Rashid Al Matrooshi of Civil Defence and Maj Gen Dr Ahmed Al Raisi, director general of Central Operations.
