The Ministry of Environment and Water took part in an international convention to conserve and protect marine turtles in and around the Indian Ocean.
The seventh meeting of the Conservation and Management of Marine Turtles and their Habitats of the Indian Ocean and South-east Asia took place in Bonn, Germany earlier this month.
The UAE was one of 35 states participating in the meeting where members reached an agreement to strengthen efforts to conserve marine turtles in and around the Indian Ocean.
The agreement capped a decade-long effort to develop a common framework for on-site conservation measures to protect the region’s Marine Turtles.
The UAE delegation included representatives from the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and the Environment and Protected Areas Authority – Sharjah.
