UAE nuclear power plant on Enec forum agenda

The first forum will held in the Western Region on Tuesday, and the second in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec) is organising two forums to educate the public about the country’s first nuclear power plant.

The first forum will held in the Western Region on Tuesday, and the second in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Enec’s chief executive, Mohammed Al Hammadi, and other senior leaders will present the latest project updates. “Nuclear power will contribute a vital amount of energy to power the growth of industries and business and provide highly-skilled local jobs for the long-term benefit of the nation,” Mr Al Hammadi said.

Enec has hosted more than 16 community forums attended by more than 6,000 people in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Madinat Zayed and Ruwais. Unit 1 of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant is 60 per cent completed and on schedule to deliver nuclear energy to the UAE grid by 2017.
