I want to know if I can send a complaint about my husband to his company. I believe that he is in an extra-marital relationship and I have evidence. What consequences might he face?
Your husband’s employer may not be interested in registering a criminal complaint with the police, but a criminal complaint of adultery can be registered by you with the police. Should the Public Prosecution decide that there is strong evidences to pursue the case, the consequences for both your husband and the other woman could be a jail term of up to one year followed by mandatory deportation.
I divorced my wife a few years ago and she now lives with my three children and a maid in a house I provide for them. The maid is on my sponsorship. I want to know if I am responsible for renewing her visa?
Article 78/1 of the UAE Personal Status Law provides that financial support towards the maintenance of the children is the obligation of the father. Financial support includes education, food, clothes, medical insurance, housing, transportation, and other daily needs subject to the father’s income. Accordingly, you may continue to sponsor the maid so long as the maid is hired to render services to your children and ex-wife in accordance with the immigration laws of the UAE.
I am a Christian man and I want to marry a Muslim girl. We are both residents in the UAE. Can we register the marriage in the UAE? We are also happy to register our marriage at either of our respective embassies but we want to be sure the marriage is valid in the UAE.
Article 47/8 of the UAE Personal Status Law prohibits the marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim man. Accordingly, regardless of where the marriage was registered, such as marriage shall be deemed invalid in the UAE.
