A UAE-funded training centre for women has opened in Pakistan.
Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the UAE's General Women's Union, praised the US$500,000 (Dh1.8 million) project yesterday, saying it would improve the lives of Pakistani women and help to raise their status, the state news agency, Wam, reported.
The 2,320-square metre centre in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will offer courses in first aid, cooking, handicrafts, styling, cosmetics and wax-making.
It is part of the UAE Project to Assist Pakistan, launched in 2011 with $100m in funding.
