A UAE charity has offered vital aid to more than 600 embattled families left homeless after an Indonesian island was rocked by a series of deadly earthquakes.
Sharjah Charity International (SCI) delivered food to 625 families displaced by earthquakes that struck Lombok in the Asian island nation over a period of two weeks in August.
More than 450 people were killed, 1,300 injured, and thousands of homes, schools and mosques were destroyed by the tremors.
The charity has joined forces with relief workers in the country to distribute essential food items such as meat, rice, sugar and tea to the families currently living in camps.
They are among more than 360,000 people in the country without homes after the natural disaster left behind a trail of destruction.
Mohammed Hamdan Al Zari, project head at SCI, said the charity is eager to offer support in crisis situations across the globe.
"This is one of the key values that charity and relief work revolves around in the UAE," said Mr Al Zari.
