DUBAI // Two drivers have denied possessing 34kg of amphetamine with intention to sell the drug.
Syrians K A, 24, and A A, 28, are charged with possessing 202,458 pills weighing at 34.1kg.
Prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court anti-narcotics police in Dubai were tipped off about the duo and, after obtaining an arrest warrant, the pair were arrested in a sting operation in Al Muraqqabat, Deira, on March 24.
“They were seated inside a Nissan Pathfinder when we arrested them. Searching their car we found a large suitcase which contained 35 plastic bags of the drug,” testified Emirati police captain A R, 42.
He said the pair confessed to being given the drugs by a third man identified as A, who is still at large, and they were directed to deliver it to an unidentified man in Dubai in return for money.
The next hearing will be on September 9.
